Somatic Disorders

Somatic Disorders---01

At Sujjivah Center for Mental Health, we provide specialized care for individuals with Somatic Disorders, including Somatic Symptom Disorder and Conversion Disorder. These conditions involve physical symptoms that may not have a clear medical cause, but they can cause significant distress and interfere with daily life. Our treatment focuses on understanding the psychological and emotional factors contributing to these disorders and addressing them through holistic, integrated care.

Somatic Symptom Disorder

Somatic Symptom Disorder involves the presence of physical symptoms that are distressing and result in excessive thoughts, feelings, or behaviors related to these symptoms. These symptoms may not have a clear medical cause, but they can significantly affect an individual’s well-being. Our approach includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), stress management techniques, and psychoeducation to help individuals better understand their symptoms and reduce distress.

Conversion Disorder

Conversion Disorder, also known as Functional Neurological Symptom Disorder, involves neurological symptoms (such as paralysis, blindness, or seizures) that cannot be explained by medical conditions. These symptoms are often triggered by psychological stress. At Sujjivah, we provide a combination of CBT, psychodynamic therapy, and stress management strategies to help individuals manage the emotional triggers of their symptoms and improve their quality of life.

Our team works closely with each individual to understand the mind-body connection and provides compassionate care to help them manage symptoms, reduce distress, and regain control over their health and well-being. At Sujjivah, we prioritize comprehensive care, ensuring both physical and psychological needs are addressed.
